Update #2

Storm Damage Reports

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) received the following damage reports related to the severe storms and tornadoes that moved through Oklahoma yesterday and this morning. Some areas of western and northwestern Oklahoma continue to be impacted by severe thunderstorms. Additional severe weather is forecast for later today.

Roger Mills and Beckham County emergency management officials report damage in the Sweetwater area. There, a tornado caused major damage to the high school, destroyed a mobile home, two houses, the school’s bus barn, numerous outbuildings and vehicles. A church also sustained minor damage. Area experienced power outages due to downed power lines and trees. CenterPoint has shut off all gas. State Highways 30 and 152 are now open. Expect to have utilities restored later today. Damage assessments continue.

Woodward County Emergency Management reports one home destroyed six miles south, one mile west of Sharon and three homes damaged and two barns destroyed north of Mutual. Additional tornado damage is reported west of Vici where downed power lines covered roads, including State Highway 34.

Ellis County Emergency Management reports four homes destroyed east of State Highway 283.

One minor injury reported in Sweetwater area. However, that person declined medical treatment.

Personnel from OEM, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the American Red Cross assisted in the damage areas.
