03/04/24 Update: Oklahoma Wildfires by the Numbers
Oklahoma Forestry Services reports approximately 152,294 acres have burned in our great state since the beginning of this wildfire outbreak Feb. 26, 2024, including:
- Catesby Fire (Ellis County): 90,920 acres
- Smokehouse Fire (Ellis/Roger Mills County): 31,596 acres
- Slapout Fire (Beaver County): 26,048 acres
- Sand Creek Fire (Harper County): 2,304 acres
- Marsh Fire (Dewey County): 603 acres
- Copenhaver Fire (Woods County): 500 acres
- L Road Fire (Texas County): 323 acres
County Emergency Managers report 19 homes have burned, including 7 that were uninhabited.
Area hospitals via the Oklahoma State Department of Health have reported 4 injuries related to the fire, including heat-related illness and transportation injuries.
FEMA approved Oklahoma Emergency Management’s request for a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) for the Catesby Fire in Ellis County on Feb. 27. At this time, the Oklahoma wildfires have not met the threshold for a FEMA Major Disaster Declaration.
