January 12-14, 2007 Ice Storm

Early January 12, 2007, a strong Arctic cold front move into Oklahoma.  This front brought with it much colder temperatures.  As the front move south into southeast Oklahoma Friday afternoon, temperatures dropped below freezing to the north of it.

In the Southwest U.S. a strong storm system was developing, resulting in widespread precipitation across Oklahoma.  Due to the freezing temperatures at the surface and relatively warm temperatures above the surface, much of the precipitation fell as freezing rain and sleet.
