Emergencies and Disasters
The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) is responsible for developing and maintaining the state's ability to respond effectively to a wide range of threats.
During an emergency, OEM coordinates statewide operations. This includes:
Activating disaster reservists, voluntary organization staff, and relevant state agency personnel
Monitoring unfolding events
Evaluating the need for a state emergency declaration and potential federal assistance
As the Governor’s designated emergency management agency, OEM may activate the State Emergency Operations Center to coordinate the delivery of critical resources.
OEM also supports long-term recovery efforts—helping individuals and communities until essential services are restored.
