Gov. Henry Requests Public Assistance for 11 Counties

Oklahoma City – Gov. Brad Henry today requested that President Obama grant public assistance to 11 counties hard hit by the March 27-28 snow storm. If approved, the designation would deliver federal funding to assist municipalities, counties and rural electric cooperatives with infrastructure repairs, debris removal and costs associated with responding to the storm.

The counties are Alfalfa, Beaver, Cimarron, Dewey, Ellis, Grant, Harper, Kay, Texas, Woods and Woodward.

“The snowstorm from late March caused significant damage, particularly to roads and bridges,” Gov. Henry said. “A number of counties and municipalities need the assistance, which I am hopeful will be granted.”

In these counties alone, the storm resulted in an estimated $5.8 million in infrastructure damage and response costs. Other counties can be added to the request as additional damages are identified.
