Gov. Henry Announces Federal Assistance Approved For 9 Counties in Wake of April Wildfires

Oklahoma City – Gov. Brad Henry announced today that the White House has approved disaster aid for Oklahomans impacted by April wildfires. The individual assistance applies to residents and business owners in Carter, Cleveland, Grady, Lincoln, McClain, Murray, Oklahoma, Payne and Stephens counties.

Nearly 270 homes and businesses were damaged beginning April 9 as fires burned more than 100,000 acres across the state. That included 228 homes that were destroyed.

Oklahomans who suffered uninsured fire damage in the nine counties are eligible for assistance for housing repairs or temporary housing, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest loans for individuals and businesses to repair or replace damaged property, disaster unemployment assistance and grants for serious needs and necessary disaster expenses not met by other programs.
