Gov. Henry Requests Public Assistance for Three Counties Impacted by February Tornadoes
Oklahoma City – Gov. Brad Henry today requested that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant public assistance to three counties hard hit by the tornadoes and severe storms on Feb. 10. If approved, the designation would deliver federal funding to assist municipalities, counties and rural electric cooperatives with infrastructure repairs, debris removal and costs associated with responding to the storm.
The counties in the request are Carter, Coal and Love. In these counties alone, the storms resulted in an estimated $4.6 million in infrastructure damage, and debris removal and response costs. Other counties can be added to the request as additional damages are identified.
Last Sunday, the White House granted individual assistance for Carter, Logan and Oklahoma counties for damages related to the storms.
