GOVERNOR STITT SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER DECLARING STATE OF EMERGENCY AS WINTER STORM APPROACHES

OKLAHOMA CITY (December 21, 2022) – Governor Kevin Stitt today signed Executive Order 2022-34 declaring a State of Emergency for all 77 Oklahoma counties due to severe winter weather anticipated in the immediate future.

The winter storm is expected to include a mix of freezing rain, snow, strong wind, and low temperatures across the state beginning Wednesday, which may result in power outages, hazardous road conditions, as well as a potential for an increased demand for liquefied petroleum gas, and certain other fuels, as well as wholesale demand for petroleum commodities such as natural gas; and said damages are likely to cause an undue hardship on the citizens of this State.

The Executive Order temporarily suspends requirements for size and weights permits of oversized vehicles transporting materials and supplies used for emergency relief and power restoration.

State agencies are continuing to prepare for the winter storm, including the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Oklahoma Tax Commission, Office of Management and Enterprise Services, Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, Oklahoma National Guard, Oklahoma State Department of Health, and others.
