Situation Update 2

March 25, 2015 - 11 p.m.

Due to severe weather conditions across Oklahoma, the State Emergency Operations Center is activated. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) is in contact with emergency managers across the state and coordinating with agencies and organizations including the Oklahoma National Guard, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma State Department of Health, Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, National Weather Service, Oklahoma Office of Geographic Information, Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

City of Moore Emergency Management reports primarily roof damage with some roofs completely removed. Roof and window damage has been reported at Southgate Elementary School.

City of Oklahoma City reports minor damage including debris in roadways and damaged traffic signals. Power lines and power poles are down. Travelers at Will Rogers World Airport were evacuated for approximately 20 minutes earlier in the evening.

Osage County Emergency Management reports damage to several buildings damaged near 209th and Highway 412.

Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency reports significant damage to River Oaks mobile home park near Sand Springs. Additional damage has been reported in the Kiowa Village neighborhood in Tulsa County and roof damage to several neighborhoods across Tulsa.

Damage assessments in the impacted areas are ongoing. Additional damage will continue to be reported to the State Emergency Operations Center throughout the evening and following days.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation reports the outside southbound lanes of I-35 are closed at Fourth Street in Moore due to an accident. The left southbound lane has reopened to traffic. All lanes of northbound I-35 are now open at Fourth Street in Moore. Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible.

Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) reports 9 people injured statewide and transported to area hospitals.

American Red Cross reports a shelter is open for those displaced by the storm in Tulsa County. The shelter is located at Foundation Church, 7785 S. Highway 97 in Sapulpa.

The Salvation Army reports the Central Oklahoma Area Command mobile feeding unit (canteen) has been dispatched at the request of the City of Oklahoma City Emergency Manager. It will set up in southwest Oklahoma City. Additionally, the catering truck is being sent to Moore to assess the need for additional response. Snacks are being provided to responders as well as storm survivors. The Tulsa Area Command canteen has deployed to River Oaks Mobile Home Park in Sand Springs. They are working closely with emergency management and serving first responders and disaster survivors.

Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief reports their Rapid Assessment Teams are activated.

Residents in Moore and south Oklahoma City can request assistance with debris removal, minor repairs and minor roof tarping through Serve Moore at www.servemoore.com. Those who want to volunteer with clean up efforts can also sign up on the site. Serve Moore is a collaborative effort of local churches working for renewal in Moore and the surrounding areas.

Statewide, more than 79,491 outages are reported.
