Gov. Henry Seeks Disaster Declaration for Caddo County in Wake of May Tornado

Oklahoma City – Gov. Brad Henry today asked the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to declare Caddo County a disaster area and deliver low-interest disaster loans to assist those impacted by the tornado that hit Anadarko on May 13.

If approved, the Governor’s request would provide SBA disaster loans for renters, homeowners and business owners to repair or replace any property damaged by the tornado which was not covered by insurance or other assistance programs. The loan program is also available to assist businesses that sustained economic injury due to the tornado.

Last week, officials from SBA, Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and Anadarko Emergency Management completed field assessments within the community. The amount of uninsured tornado damage fell short of that required to receive disaster assistance for individuals and business owners through FEMA.
