Renewable energy, often referred to as “green” energy, is derived from natural sources that are replenished more quickly than they are consumed. These sources are considered sustainable because they do not deplete over time, unlike fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas.
The Public Utility Division (PUD) of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission evaluates applications for constructing facilities to harness these renewable resources. This process ensures that the benefits and costs associated with renewable energy are fair and reasonable for electricity consumers in Oklahoma.
Wind Energy - Intent to Construct
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has implemented provisions of the Oklahoma Wind Energy Development Act, 17 O.S. §§ 160.11 et seq., establishing rules and procedures for an entity that builds, constructs, owns, operates, controls, manages or maintains a wind energy facility within the State of Oklahoma. The rules governing the annual reporting requirements as well as notification requirements of Wind Energy Facilities can be found in OAC 165:35-45.
