Randy Gilbert is the owner/operations manager at Gilbert and Sons Trucking and an insurance agent at Gilbert Insurance Agency in Tecumseh. He also operates a cow/calf operation with registered Limousin cattle and a commercial herd of Limousin crossbreds. He is also co-owner of Crossing Hearts Ranch, an agri-tourism venue as an added value to their cattle operation. He has been involved in agriculture all of his life.
Gilbert graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1978 and then attended Oklahoma State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education in 1983.
He began his career teaching agricultural education and FFA in Lawton for five years. In 1988 he returned to Tecumseh to run the family trucking business. He has been involved in business management for more than 35 years and has devoted countless resources and volunteer hours to promote agriculture to youth.
Gilbert has served on the State Board of Career and Technology Education for more than 20 years. He also serves on the Oklahoma Youth Expo Executive board of directors and the Shawnee Industrial Authority. He is past chairman of the Oklahoma FFA Foundation and president of the Southwest American Livestock Foundation and has been chairman of both the Shawnee and Tecumseh chambers of commerce. He has served as chairman of the Oklahoma Ag Credit nominating committee for the past several years and on the Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show committee for more than 35 years. He also serves on First United Bank’s board of directors and was instrumental in the development of the business park north of Tecumseh on U.S. 177.
He is a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Limousin Breeders Association, the FFA Alumni Association and the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association. He is a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemens Association, the Sirloin Club of Oklahoma and the American Farmers and Ranchers Insurance Association.
Gilbert has received recognition on several levels for his involvement in promoting agriculture and youth in Oklahoma and beyond. He was named a Top 55 Over 55 Oklahoman, Tecumseh Chamber Business Person of the Year, Oklahoma Limousin Breeders Association Family of the Year, a Sirloin Club of Oklahoma honoree for the Oklahoma Youth Expo and an Honorary American, State and Chapter FFA Degree Recipient. He also received the Oklahoma CareerTech 2023 Bob Funk Advocate of Excellence, the Oklahoma Governor’s Award for Outstanding Public Service in Agriculture, the Sirloin Club of Oklahoma President’s Award, the Oklahoma FFA VIP Award Recipient, the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club Friend of the Youth Award, the National Association Agriculture Education Outstanding Cooperation Award, the Oklahoma Agricultural Education Teacher Association Outstanding Cooperation Award and many other awards.
Gilbert is passionate about Oklahoma and his community and the opportunities for growth in rural Oklahoma. He and his wife, Suzanne, have two daughters, Annie Jo and Dustie; a son-in-law, Jordan; and three wonderful grandchildren, Taycie, Legend and Bryar.
He was inducted into the CareerTech Hall of Fame in 2024.
