Accreditation

The Oklahoma State Board of Career and Technology Education is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the “authority for the approval of public postsecondary vocational education offered at institutions in the State of Oklahoma that are not under the jurisdiction of the Oklahoma State Regents of Higher Education, including the approval of public postsecondary vocational education offered via distance education." This recognition establishes the State Board as the accrediting body for the technology centers in Oklahoma. It further requires the State Board to establish policies and standards pertaining to the accreditation process. The policies set forth by the State Board are published in Rules for Career and Technology Education, which is available through the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.

2020 CIP/SOC Crosswalk

In 2010, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in the US Department of Labor and NCES worked together to create the CIP-SOC Crosswalk and updated it in 2020 to reflect updates to the CIP and SOC. The CIP-SOC Crosswalk matches 6-digit CIP Codes with 6-digit SOC Codes based on their descriptions. The underlying principle between matching CIP Codes with SOC Codes is that the academic program needs to provide the skills and knowledge required to perform an occupation.

The 2020 CIP-SOC Crosswalk can be downloaded from the CIP website: https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Files/CIP2020_SOC2018_Crosswalk.xlsx
