Comments or Complaints Policy

Concerns/Grievances with a Public School

The Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education is a separate agency from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. While we have many interactions in our efforts to support education, we do not have oversight of one another. If you wish to file a formal complaint against a public school, below are the options:

  1. Complete the local district grievance process which should be found on their website, in the student handbook, in board policies, or obtained from the administrative office.
  2. Concerns can also be filed with the Oklahoma State Department of Education by clicking on the yellow Awareity icon at the link above.

Concerns/Grievances with a Technology Center

  1. Complete the local district complaint process which should be found on their website, in the student handbook, in board policies, or obtained from the administrative office.
  2. The OK Department of CareerTech will not engage their process until the local policy is exhausted. You can also find our policy on technology center complaints outlined in our administrative rules, subchapter 8, Complaints and Grievances, using this CareerTech Administrative Rules link.

Policy on ensuring you can provide us with feedback

House Concurrent Resolution 1081, passed by the 1998 Oklahoma Legislature, directs each state agency with a website to provide an online form so the public can "...register comments or complaints relating to the performance of persons, businesses, or other entities regulated by the state agency."

A formal complaint/grievance may be filed via email, phone call, or in person
