Through a network of 394 PK-12 school districts, 29 technology center districts, 16 skills center sites and 49 adult education and family literacy providers, enrollment in CareerTech programs exceeds 517,000. Boasting more than 18,000 members, Oklahoma SkillsUSA is a major player at the national level of an organization that lives and breathes workforce development. About 3,000 student-members gathered in Tulsa at their State Leadership & Skills Conference toward the conclusion of the spring 2025 semester to compete and collaborate in a wide array of skilled trades, leadership, and job readiness contests.
Mother-daughter teaching duo integrates HOSA into classroom instruction
LouAnn Lively and her daughter Blaklyn Geiger left their healthcare professions for the classroom — their forays into teaching separated by two decades. They teach health science classes at Durant High School where “HOSA Fridays” have become the avenue for linking classroom instruction to involvement in competition.
