LRTP 2020-2045
The primary purpose of the 2045 LRTP is to provide strategic direction for the development of the Oklahoma multimodal transportation system. Developing the 2045 LRTP was a multimodal planning effort that looked at the state’s highways and bridges, as well as rail, ports, aviation connections, transit and bicycle/pedestrian facilities.
The 2045 LRTP planning process began in March 2019, and the plan was completed in August 2020. The planning framework was designed to conform with the requirements set forth in the federal surface transportation law, as adopted under MAP-21 in 2012 and the FAST Act in 2015. Federal law requires that states create a plan that looks at least 20 years into the future. The plan must also be multimodal and prepared using input from stakeholders such as transportation providers, regional and local governments, non-government agencies, and the general public. The 2045 LRTP establishes the vision for transportation in Oklahoma through 2045.
About the Plan
The 2045 Oklahoma LRTP planning process included:
- Updating vision, goals, and objectives.
- Aligning federal performance measures to the updated goals.
- Describing the existing multimodal transportation system.
- Examining demographic, socioeconomic, and emerging technology trends.
- Identifying 25-year multimodal transportation system needs.
- Projecting 25-year federal, state, and local revenues.
- Updating the multimodal policies and strategies.
