Safety & Health
Championing Workplace Safety and Health for All Oklahomans
At the Oklahoma Department of Labor, our Safety & Health Division is committed to ensuring that every workplace, whether in the public or private sector, is a safe and healthy environment. We offer a comprehensive range of services, including OSHA Consultation Services, Public Employee Occupational Safety & Health (PEOSH) programs, and Asbestos Abatement programs, all designed to prevent workplace accidents and promote a culture of safety. Our team provides expert consultation, extensive outreach, and educational initiatives to empower employers and employees alike, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and fostering partnerships that prioritize worker well-being.
Within our Safety Standards Division, we oversee and enforce safety regulations across a diverse set of industries. This includes:
- Alarm, Locksmith, and Fire Sprinkler systems, ensuring that these critical services meet stringent safety standards.
- Alternative Fuels, where we manage the safe installation, modification, and inspection of systems related to CNG, EV, LNG, and Hydrogen vehicles.
- Amusement Rides, focusing on the safety and proper operation of rides across the state.
- Elevators and other vertical transportation systems, ensuring they are inspected and maintained to the highest safety standards.
- Boiler and Pressure Vessels, regulating the safe operation of these powerful systems.
- Welder Licensing, certifying that welders are qualified to perform their work safely and effectively.
Our Licensing division, with the guidance of advisory committees, administers the licensure, registration, and regulation of 51 occupational licenses. By ensuring that individuals and businesses meet rigorous standards of expertise, we protect the health, safety, and welfare of all Oklahomans.
Though the Occupational Licensing Advisory Commission has been sunset, its legacy of maintaining high standards in occupational licensing continues to influence our practices and commitment to safety.
