State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG)

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), Special Education Services (SES) has been awarded a five-year grant by the U.S. Department of Education. The 2022 Oklahoma State Personnel Development Grant (OK SPDG IV), which will run from October 2022 until October 2027, is used to assist the OSDE in reforming and improving systems for professional development in order to improve results for children with disabilities.

SPARK Conference 2025 – Supporting Early Career Special Education Teachers

We are excited to welcome participants to our first annual SPARK Conference, designed to provide essential tools, collaboration opportunities, and ongoing support for approximately 260 Early Career Special Education Teachers. If you have five years or less of special education teaching experience, this event is tailored to help you build a strong foundation for the 2025-2026 school year.

Conference Schedule:

The SPARK Conference offers a week-long experience, combining virtual and in-person learning:

  • July 28 – Virtual | 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

  • July 29 – Virtual | 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

  • July 30 – In-Person @ Metro Tech, OKC | 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

  • July 31 – In-Person @ Metro Tech, OKC | 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

  • August 1 – In-Person @ Metro Tech, OKC | 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Additional Support & Resources:

  • Ongoing Learning through SPARK Camp Module (Asynchronous)

  • Monthly SPARK Communities of Practice

  • OSDE Partnership with CEC (Council for Exceptional Children) – By application/registration

  • Project 613 Funding available for hotel and travel reimbursement

To make the most of this experience, please bring:

  • Computers, student data, caseload information, bell schedules, Ed Plan logins, writing materials, and anything else that supports your success in the upcoming school year.
