State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG)

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), Special Education Services (SES) has been awarded a five-year grant by the U.S. Department of Education. The 2022 Oklahoma State Personnel Development Grant (OK SPDG IV), which will run from October 2022 until October 2027, is used to assist the OSDE in reforming and improving systems for professional development in order to improve results for children with disabilities.

The 2025 OKMTSS Summer Conference is your chance to connect, learn, and grow in the field of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Held at the Reed Center in Midwest City, OK, this exciting event spans three days, offering valuable insights and opportunities for educators and professionals.

Conference Schedule:

  • OKMTSS MTSS Fidelity Assessment – June 18 | 8 AM - 11 AM

  • Pre-Conference Sessions – June 18 | Noon - 4 PM

  • Main Conference – June 19 & 20 | 8:30 AM - 4 PM

SPARK Conference 2025 – Supporting Early Career Special Education Teachers

We are excited to welcome participants to our first annual SPARK Conference, designed to provide essential tools, collaboration opportunities, and ongoing support for approximately 260 Early Career Special Education Teachers. If you have five years or less of special education teaching experience, this event is tailored to help you build a strong foundation for the 2025-2026 school year.

Conference Schedule:

The SPARK Conference offers a week-long experience, combining virtual and in-person learning:

  • July 28 – Virtual | 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

  • July 29 – Virtual | 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

  • July 30 – In-Person @ Metro Tech, OKC | 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

  • July 31 – In-Person @ Metro Tech, OKC | 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

  • August 1 – In-Person @ Metro Tech, OKC | 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Additional Support & Resources:

  • Ongoing Learning through SPARK Camp Module (Asynchronous)

  • Monthly SPARK Communities of Practice

  • OSDE Partnership with CEC (Council for Exceptional Children) – By application/registration

  • Project 613 Funding available for hotel and travel reimbursement

  • Computers, student data, caseload information, bell schedules, Ed Plan logins, writing materials, and anything else that supports your success in the upcoming school year.

State Personnel Development Grant Demonstration District Application Announcement

The State Personnel Development Grant IV seeks to support districts with the implementation of OKMTSS across K-12. The demonstration district application seeks to locate and select districts who are embodying elements of OKMTSS within their Elementary, Middle, and High School contexts.

Districts should complete the application based on the grade-band (s) they would like to showcase.
