Oklahoma Multi-Tiered System of Supports (OKMTSS)

What Is MTSS

A Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a comprehensive continuum of evidence-based, systemic practices to support a rapid response to students’ needs, with regular observation to facilitate data-based instructional decision making. (ESEA, Title IX, Sec. 8002(33))

Leading OKMTSS for Administrators📣

Oklahoma administrators committed to strengthening their Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) practices are invited to join the next session in the Leading OKMTSS for Administrators series. This installment, Data‑Driven Decisions Part 2: Measurement & Intervention Selection, focuses on helping school leaders refine how they use data to guide instructional and behavioral decision‑making across their buildings.

Building on foundational MTSS concepts, this session dives deeper into selecting high‑quality measures, interpreting student data, and choosing interventions that align with student needs. Administrators will explore practical tools for evaluating progress, identifying gaps, and ensuring that interventions are both evidence‑based and appropriately matched to the intensity required. The session is designed to support leaders in creating systems where data is not just collected—but meaningfully used to drive improvement.

This professional learning opportunity will take place on Wednesday, March 4th at 9:00 AM. Administrators across Oklahoma are encouraged to attend and continue building a cohesive, data‑driven MTSS framework that supports every learner.

If you are interested, please register at Leading OKC Meeting Registration.

Data-Based Individualization (DBI): Student Level Data Retreat📊

Educators across Oklahoma who support student interventions now have the opportunity to participate in a focused, one‑day Student‑Level Data Retreat centered on Data‑Based Individualization (DBI). This professional learning experience is designed for interventionists, general education teachers, special education teachers, and anyone directly implementing interventions with students. The retreat builds on the practices used in the OKMTSS system‑level data retreat and provides hands‑on opportunities to strengthen data‑driven decision‑making.

Participants will spend the day learning how to apply DBI practices, analyze student data, and refine intervention plans using validated tools and structured protocols. Through live practice, case studies, and guided modeling, attendees will deepen their understanding of goal setting, progress monitoring, and the use of SLIP forms to support individualized intervention pathways.

The retreat will be offered on three dates and in three locations to support statewide access:

  • March 9, 2026 — Oklahoma City (OSDE Room 215)

  • March 10, 2026 — McAlester

  • March 11, 2026 — Tulsa

The full agenda includes sessions on DBI foundations, hands‑on protocol practice, goal setting, and modeling of intervention adjustments. With a blend of learning, collaboration, and practical application, the retreat equips educators with the tools needed to make informed, student‑centered decisions.

To register please visit the DBI Student Level Registration.

OKMTSS Monthly Office Hour📞

Oklahoma educators implementing MTSS now have a new space for real‑time support, collaboration, and problem‑solving. Beginning March 12, 2026, the OKMTSS team will host a monthly come‑and‑go Office Hour designed to help districts strengthen their systems and receive timely guidance. These sessions will take place on the second Thursday of each month from 9:00–10:00 AM.

The Office Hour is open to anyone working with MTSS at the district or school level. Participants are encouraged to bring questions, discuss challenges, or simply listen in to learn what other districts are experiencing. Whether you’re troubleshooting implementation barriers or exploring new ideas, this informal space offers a supportive environment to connect with colleagues across the state.

This new offering reflects Oklahoma’s commitment to building strong, sustainable MTSS practices statewide. Educators are invited to drop in, share insights, and take advantage of a collaborative hour dedicated to improving outcomes for all students.

Please visit the OKMTSS Office Hours Registration to join the call and ask your questions about implementing MTSS.
