Data Governance
The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) Data Governance team facilitates the effective management of data, including establishing and reviewing agency processes, policies, and stakeholder roles to ensure data accessibility, quality, integrity, security, and privacy are maintained within the OSDE.

Goals of OSDE's Data Governance Program
- Improve data accessibility to key stakeholders, including the OSDE staff and school districts, to guide important decision making to better serve Oklahoma students.
- Ensure meaningful, timely, high-quality data are collected for required state and federal reporting.
- Create a durable, proactive, and collaborative agency-wide culture that embraces data-based decision making.
- Craft and implement policies, processes, and documentation that appropriately secure and use educational data, while also improving consistency and transparency in the OSDE’s data, privacy, and security practices.
OSDE Data Governance Board
The OSDE Data Governance Board (DGB) and its members are the OSDE’s vital resource in data management and a driving force in promoting data accessibility, integrity, literacy, privacy, quality, and security. The DGB's membership is key data owners across divisions within the OSDE, and this Board meets the last Tuesday of every month to discuss agency data management and decision making.

- Create foundational policies, procedures, and documentation
- Improve the internal data sharing process
- Improve the external data sharing process
- Build out data resources for OSDE staff, school districts, and the public
