Processing
Please allow 60-90 days for processing the complete application. Incomplete applications cannot be processed and all processing fees are non-refundable. Applicants will receive their license at the mailing address listed on the application via 1st class mail. Denied applicants will receive written notification by 1st class mail.
Renewals
Licenses may be renewed any time within 90 days prior to the expiration. Expiration notification will be sent to the mailing address provided. (If your mailing address changes during your license term, please notify OSBI within 30 days.)
If it has been over 3 years since your license has expired, you must process through the sheriff’s office in your county of residence and follow the initial applications instructions, however, it is not necessary to retake the training class. OSBI maintains a record of all training or exemption certificates submitted.
Expired Renewals
Expired renewals (those whose license expired more than 3 years ago) will follow the initial applicant instructions, except for the training requirement. OSBI maintains a record of all training/exemption certificates submitted and no further proof of training is required.
