OSBI SEEKS INFORMATION REGARDING 1971 COLD CASE
On October 29, 1971, 56-year-old Mack Watkins had picked up two hitchhikers, an adult male and female, while driving westbound from Little Rock, Arkansas. The following day, Watkins was discovered deceased along I-40, near the Sallisaw, Oklahoma rest area. His orange pickup truck was later found abandoned in Oklahoma City.
The male hitchhiker was described to have possession of an Illinois driver’s license, with a possible date of birth of 1944. Witnesses also said the word “LOVE” was tattooed on his left hand and his right hand had a birth defect. The woman had long red hair.
The OSBI Cold Case Unit continues to seek justice in this case and asks anyone with information to contact them at tips@osbi.ok.gov or 1-800-522-8017.
