Child Health/EPSDT
Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) is a preventive health care package for children ages 20 or younger enrolled in Oklahoma Medicaid. Periodic screenings occur on a schedule established by the American Academy of Pediatrics and subsequent coverage is provided for any appropriate, medically necessary service that is covered by SoonerCare.
12 Months Continuous Eligibility
SoonerCare members under the age of 19 will get full Medicaid benefits for 12 months beginning Jan. 1, 2024, even if the child's household has a life change, such as:
- A change in income.
- A change in your household. For example, you get married or divorced, or the child’s sibling moves out of the home.
Life changes that would not qualify for continued Medicaid coverage include:
- If you move to a new state.
- If you ask to leave the Medicaid program.
Childhood Immunizations (Shots)
Immunizations (shots) are an important part of your child’s health care. All child shots are covered through the EPSDT program.
Shots should be given at certain ages and will generally follow the schedule shown in the chart below. Any dose not given at the recommended age should be given as a "catch-up" immunization at any future visit. Call your doctor to schedule an appointment for your child’s shots.
