STEM Professional Development Opportunities


Choose Aerospace - OEIP

What:  Networking & American Airlines Tour
Where:  American Airlines

May 31 is for teachers, counselors, administrators, and business to network and discuss the need to aviation maintenance in Oklahoma.  The session will be held at American Airlines.  A tour of American Airlines will follow the networking session.

Choose Aerospace

When: June 1 - June 2
What:  Aviation Maintenance Generals
Where: Tulsa Tech Riverside Campus

June 1-2 will be for teachers teaching Choose Aerospace (General Aviation Maintenance) curriculum.  Teachers will learn how to plan and practice student labs that will be in the curriculum.  Teachers will also learn how to navigate the Choose Aerospace Learning Management System.

Aerospace Grant

Educators may apply for up to $500 in classroom materials or curriculum related to Aerospace Awareness.

This Form must be submitted no later than 5 pm on Friday , June 8th, 2023.

Award recipients will be notified via email by Whitney Blaylock.

This is a reimbursement grant.  We ask the purchase be made through your school, and we will reimburse the school district directly based on the information submitted.  As such, the reimbursement process for purchases begins after July 1, 2023 and all purchases must be made by August 31, 2023.

Aerospace Externship

Externships are learning experiences that help educators enrich their students interactions and academic content by using real-world applications. By having their own industry experiences, educators may also become better-equipped to prepare students for the workforce.

• Earn up to $750 by spending 30 hours with an approved aerospace company

• Engage in high quality professional development without missing time in class

• Expand and improve partnerships that result in addressing the aerospace workforce opportunities and needs

• Submit a completed application with selected aerospace company by May 3, 2023

•Compete the externship no later than July 31, 2023

What: How to build, register, program, and compete in VEX IQ

When: June 20-21
Where: Tulsa Tech - Broken Arrow Campus (4000 W  Florence St, Broken Arrow)
What: This session will cover competition, registration, coding, building, engineering notebook and student retention. Bring a claw bot kit or a robot you've already built and a laptop with software downloaded from here: https://www.vexrobotics.com/vexcode/install/v5. There will be time for building so if you already have a robot built, you may be helping someone build who never has before.
