OK SPA #25-0008 Managed Care Indirect Medical Education (IME) Payment
The proposed state plan amendment (SPA) establishes a managed care indirect medical education (IME) payment methodology for Oklahoma hospitals that are owned or operated by a public trust and affiliated with an accredited medical school. The managed care IME payment will be based on a percentage of the total Medicaid managed care payments to the hospital for inpatient and outpatient services. The percentage will depend on the number of residents and the number of beds available at the hospital. Payments will be disbursed quarterly. The IME payment will support the expansion of primary care and specialty medical education in rural settings and bolster the healthcare workforce in Oklahoma. Existing graduate medical education (GME) and IME payments will not be affected.
