Quality of Care Issues
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program serves Oklahomans in nursing homes, assisted living or residential care homes by receiving complaints and attempting to resolve those complaints within the facility. Under Oklahoma and federal law, the ombudsman has the authority to explore problems and recommend corrective action.
The eleven Area Agencies on Aging provide local supervision and support for the volunteers who serve as ombudsman. Local programs can be accessed by calling the (800) 211-2116 Senior Info-Line number.
For a referral to a nursing home or help filing a complaint, contact the Oklahoma State Department of Health, at (405) 271-6868 or (800) 747-8419.
