OHCA dentist recognized for leadership of national organization

OKLAHOMA CITY – Leon Bragg, DDS, Chief Dental Officer for the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, was recently recognized by Delta Dental of Oklahoma for his service as President of the Medicaid Medicare CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) Services Dental Association (MSDA).

The award, presented during a luncheon at the annual MSDA Symposium in Washington, D.C., included a $10,000 sponsorship to the symposium in recognition of Dr. Bragg’s service and leadership.

John Gladden, President and CEO of Delta Dental of Oklahoma and Chairman of Delta Dental of Oklahoma Oral Health Foundation, states Dr. Bragg’s service as MSDA President is “an honor and positive reflection on Oklahoma. Beyond that, countless Oklahomans have benefitted from your tireless efforts to advance access to dental care for the underserved in our state.”

MSDA serves to develop and promote evidence-based Medicaid/CHIP oral health best practices and policies. Dr. Bragg has also served the organization as vice-president.

Dr. Bragg became the OHCA’s first full-time dentist in February 2004. As Chief Dental Officer, he helped develop dental care policy for SoonerCare members, established benefit standards for quality and assisted with utilization review for the program. Dr. Bragg also serves as a liaison between the state agency and its dental providers.

“This national recognition and award by Delta Dental of Oklahoman Oral Health Foundation was thrilling and left me speechless. The position I hold nationally is a reflection of what other state’s dental program officers think of me. I feel my state position has been successful because of Oklahoma’s dental community. I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with colleagues to provide oral health care to our many Oklahomans that need and deserve the care.” Dr. Bragg said.
