Teacher apprenticeship program launches in Oklahoma
Ninety Oklahomans are earning teaching certificates while working at schools through a new initiative, the Teaching to Teach Apprenticeship Program.
The program is a partnership among Oklahoma CareerTech, the Regional University System of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Workforce Commission. It is designed to increase the number of certified teachers by providing scholarships to education students already employed in a school district, technology center or early learning center.
“The Teaching to Teach Apprenticeship Program is breaking down barriers for future educators by allowing them to earn while they learn,” said Brent Haken, Oklahoma CareerTech state director. “Through this partnership with the Regional University System of Oklahoma, we’re not only filling classrooms with qualified teachers -- we’re investing in passionate professionals who are already making a difference in students’ lives.”

Annexation: Making CareerTech accessible to every Oklahoman
With increasing interest from local school districts, CareerTech technology centers now provide access to workforce training and development in every corner of our state.
The annexation process creates a pathway for school districts to partner with a local technology center. In turn, tech centers provide low- and no-cost programs for high schoolers, customized workforce training for local industry and adult special interest classes.
As Oklahoma's Workforce Leader, this is how CareerTech expands access to a better life for every Oklahoman.
