CareerTech director talks about apprenticeships

Oklahoma CareerTech State Director Brent Haken talked to News 9 last week about apprenticeships in Oklahoma.

Gov. Kevin Stitt said during his State of the State speech that he wants to see 250 new apprenticeship programs this year. Haken explained to the news station how Oklahoma CareerTech has taken the lead on expanding apprenticeships in the state.

“We just couldn’t be more excited about the attention that the governor gave to this effort,” he said.

CareerTech ‘a driving force for economic growth,’ Metro Tech superintendent writes

Oklahoma CareerTech fuels the state’s economy and promotes economic development, Metro Technology Centers Superintendent and CEO Aaron Collins wrote recently in a column in The Oklahoman.

Collins wrote about the return on investment in technology centers that Oklahomans receive: “For every $1 of state funding invested in technology centers like Metro Tech, there's a $9.82 impact on economic output and $10.48 in earnings for secondary and adult students over a decade.”

Technology centers’ programs, he wrote, are tailored to both students’ needs and community businesses’ needs.
