Voters to consider Konawa Schools annexation into Pontotoc Tech Center district
On Aug. 27, voters in Pottawatomie and Seminole Counties will consider a proposal allowing Konawa Public Schools to join the Pontotoc Technology Center district.
The proposed annexation election was approved by the Konawa Public School Board and the state board of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education earlier this year. If approved, the annexation would allow secondary students and adults in the Konawa district to enroll in Pontotoc’s career training programs without paying an out-of-district fee.
Annexing Konawa schools into the Pontotoc district is expected to increase the educational opportunities for students and help support businesses and industries in and around the Konawa area.
