Stillwater ag ed teacher wins national ACTE award
Robby Branscum, agricultural education teacher and FFA adviser for Stillwater Public Schools, received the national Carl Perkins Community Service Award at the ACTE CareerTech Vision conference last week.
The Carl Perkins Community Service Award recognizes teachers with significant accomplishments and outstanding leadership in programs and activities that promote community involvement.
Branscum has worked with students to connect the Stillwater ag ed program to the community through projects like the Cans for Community 5K Race, the Secret Service Challenge and the Christmas Tractor Tree. He has also worked to help students realize a duty of citizenship while at school.
CareerTech offers printing services
A new CareerTech video offers a tour of the agency’s printing services’ 55,000-square-foot facility.

Connect 2 Business selected for work-based learning
Oklahoma CareerTech and the Oklahoma State Department of Education are working with Kuder Inc. to use Connect 2 Business to engage students, schools and business in work-based learning and job alignment.
CareerTech uses Kuder’s career readiness platform for OK Career Guide, an online resource available to all Oklahomans to explore and guide educational and career decisions.
“Kuder's responsiveness and commitment to ensuring we're supported for WBL completion and ICAP reporting has been outstanding,” said Brent Haken, CareerTech state director. “Working in partnership with OSDE, C2B will expand WBL in the state and strengthen education and business partnerships.”

Video series visits Meridian Tech
Episode 11 of Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell’s “A Look at Oklahoma CareerTech” series focuses on the culinary arts program at Meridian Technology Center.
Pinnell talks to Jazlyn Hancock, who said Meridian Tech’s program enabled her to complete a competitive culinary internship in Paris.

OU Daily article highlights Moore Norman Tech grad
Moore Norman Technology Center graduate Richard Key talked to the OU Daily about his experiences in school for an article in the university newspaper’s winter magazine.
Key told the reporter he knew he did not want to attend college after high school, so he attended MNTC and is now a full-time electrician who is financially independent.
