Tri County Tech cuts ribbon on new facility in Nowata

Tri County Technology Center’s Nowata Business Development Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Nowata held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house last week at their new joint-use facility in Nowata.

The 22,500-square-foot facility includes dedicated spaces for Tri County Tech and the Boys and Girls Club of Nowata, along with shared spaces such as classrooms, a commercial kitchen and meeting rooms.

CareerTech releases annual report, more

Oklahoma CareerTech’s fiscal year 2022 annual report, 2023 business plan and 2023-2028 strategic plan are available on the CareerTech website.

The annual report contains FY22 data about technology centers, PK-12 schools, business and industry, adult education and family literacy and skills centers.

The business plan showcases CareerTech success stories and includes the FY24 appropriations request.

The strategic plan also contains success stories and lays out CareerTech goals and objects and how Oklahoma CareerTech will achieve them.

Oklahoma celebrates Careers in Energy Week

Oklahoma celebrated Careers in Energy Week last week.

The Oklahoma Energy Workforce Consortium celebrated the week by promoting the benefits of pursuing careers in the industry. Energy is the highest-paying industry in the state, with an average salary of more than $109,000 annually and employing more than 84,000 Oklahomans in 2021.

Oklahoma ranks fourth in the U.S. for wind energy employment, third for installed wind power capacity, sixth for solar potential and third in natural gas production and is home to the world’s largest oil storage facility.

In addition to industry leaders, the consortium includes leaders from Oklahoma CareerTech, K-12 education, higher education and government and is focused on creating a pipeline of talented, diverse individuals to meet future needs within the state’s energy sector.

Video shows how OkPTAC helps small businesses find opportunities

The Oklahoma Procurement Technical Assistance Center provides marketing and technical assistance to Oklahoma businesses interested in selling products and services to federal, state, local and tribal governments.

One way it does so is through the ICBSShow, which it hosts with the Tribal Government Institute. At this year’s event, small business owners and industry leaders echoed a cohesive message: come here to find opportunities and support. An Oklahoma CareerTech video showcases those leaders talking about how OkPTAC, which is administered by Oklahoma CareerTech, has helped them.

CareerTech Conversations talks about health care careers

Oklahoma CareerTech Conversations sat down with Health Careers Education Program Manager Lara Morris to discuss the state of Oklahoma's health care careers.

The discussion includes the nursing job market and opportunities for training and advancement within the CareerTech System.
