OSBI Physical Evidence Unit

The Physical Evidence Unit serves all 77 counties in Oklahoma to local, state, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies at our five locations in Edmond, Tahlequah, McAlester, Lawton and Woodward.  Our Evidence Technicians are trained to understand the requirements of evidence handling and packaging to meet our accreditation standards and understand what evidence can/cannot be accepted, tested or destroyed for each laboratory discipline.  Our Evidence Unit is happy to assist our local law enforcement stakeholders by providing training in evidence handling through our Laboratory Outreach Program.  All evidence within the laboratory system begins and ends with the Physical Evidence Unit.

Evidence Submissions

During the evidence submission process, OSBI Criminalistics Service Division (CSD) trained personnel will assist agencies with the review of evidence packaging, sealing, and submission procedures to ensure that the appropriate criteria are met. Evidence Destruction

The OSBI CSD provides evidence destruction services to authorized law enforcement personnel per 63 OK Stat §2-505, §2-506, §63-2-507 and §2-508.  Click here for the OSBI Evidence Destruction Form.

Evidence acceptance hours are Monday thru Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm at all evidence receiving locations.
