OHCA is Recognized as a "Top Workplace" for Second Year in a Row

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) comes in at number ten of Workplace Dynamic’s “Top Workplaces,” a list of the best places to work in Oklahoma. OHCA was included, for the second year in a row, in the category for large organizations (300+ employees). The winning companies are chosen based on survey results completed by their employees earlier in the year.

“We are honored to have been selected for the award, particularly because the judges were our own employees,” said OHCA CEO Becky Pasternik-Ikard. “We have a special group of people here at OHCA who are dedicated to helping out their fellow Oklahomans, whether that is through their daily job functions of providing SoonerCare to thousands of their neighbors a year, volunteering as an agency in the community or just being great coworkers to each other.”

OHCA was one of only a handful of state government agencies to make this year’s list alongside private-sector leaders such as Paycom and Express Services. Workplace Dynamics looks at seven key areas to determine the strength of an organization. Those areas include:

•Alignment — where the company is headed, its values, cooperation

•Effectiveness — doing things well, sharing different viewpoints, encouraging new ideas

•Connection — employees feel appreciated, their work is meaningful

•My Manager — cares about concerns, helps learn and grow

•Employee Engagement — loyalty, motivation, and referral

•Leader — confidence in company leadership

•The Basics — Pay, benefits, flexibility

OHCA came in at number 12 on 2015’s “Top Workplace” list.

The Top Workplaces winners were listed in a special section of the Oklahoman on Dec.11, 2016. The section can be viewed online at: https://issuu.com/opubco/docs/topworkplaces121116.

The Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) administers two key health programs for the state. The first is SoonerCare, Oklahoma’s Medicaid program. SoonerCare works to improve the health outcomes of Oklahomans by ensuring that medically necessary benefits and services are responsive to the health care needs of our members. Qualifying Oklahomans include certain low-income children, seniors, the disabled, those being treated for breast or cervical cancer and those seeking family planning services. The second program OHCA operates is Insure Oklahoma, which assists qualifying adults and small business employees in obtaining health care coverage for themselves and their families. OHCA strives to educate and engage our current 809,237 members regarding personal responsibilities for their health services utilization, behaviors, and outcomes in partnership with a state-wide network of 42,209 providers.
