Campaign OHCA’s Annual Board Retreat To Be Held In Tulsa
In late August, more than 200 providers, state leaders, consumers and agency partners will gather in the Tulsa Hyatt Regency conference center for the 13th Annual Oklahoma Health Care Authority Board Retreat.
The retreat serves as the agency’s annual strategic planning session. It is also an opportunity for board members and others to receive updates and give input on various issues regarding the SoonerCare and Insure Oklahoma programs.
The retreat spans two days, Aug. 23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Aug. 24, from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The regularly scheduled board meeting will be held Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. Attendance is encouraged for anyone who has an interest in SoonerCare or Insure Oklahoma.
The Aug. 23 agenda includes a review of the agency’s goals and highlights; a session looking at the “Tell Us Your Story” campaign where we see real life examples of how SoonerCare positively impacts members’ lives; a look at how the agency staff are proactive and organized in all health care areas; and Medicaid mandates and information on the Affordable Care Act and how the agency will be affected.
After lunch, sessions include a review of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) program; a look at the Oklahoma Health Information initiatives including the SoonerCare Health Information Technology (HIT) and the Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Payments; and a question and answer session.
Sessions on Aug. 24 will include a spotlight on OHCA’s equal employment opportunities; a session on SoonerCare supports for all family members (pregnant women, babies, kids, etc); a session on OHCA’s cost controls and cost containment strategies; and a wrap up question and answer session and action plan review.
The retreat also serves as an annual launching point to refocus the strategic direction of the agency and its programs. In years past, ideas brought to this forum have blossomed into beneficial programs. The agency’s initiatives, which include its current patient-centered medical home model; its online enrollment portal; and many others, were first discussed at previous board retreats. After reviewing the results from a legislative interim study on the uninsured in Oklahoma, the retreat yielded the idea of creating the Insure Oklahoma premium subsidy program. From discussions like these, the agency and its board can begin to design and implement innovative programs and solutions for its most problematic issues.
