Location | Lexington Assessment and Reception Center (LARC) RTMU Minimum Unit– Lexington, Oklahoma Training is also provided at CWCCC and UCCC. Correspondence training is available at JLCC, JBCC, and JHCC. |
Average Training Time | 1,050 hours written curriculum (8-12 months), plus 12 month OJT Apprentice hours toward State Journeyman Testing (if needed) |
Special Restrictions | Preferably 1 to 5 years from discharge; GED or HS Diploma; Working in DOC Maintenance, Construction Maintenance or have prior trade related experience and pass mechanical aptitude test along with a job offer from DOC Maintenance; Be referred by DOC Maintenance supervisor |
Course Description | The licensed trades program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain an Oklahoma State Journeyman's license and to succeed in the licensed trades industry. Students will learn the necessary trade procedures and techniques as they complete course curriculum utilizing (LAP's) Learning Activity Packets, trade related textbooks, training simulator systems, and performing (OJT) on the job training with the D.O.C. maintenance departments. |
