Spring Teaching to Teach Apprenticeship applications open in October
Oklahoma CareerTech will open applications in October for spring 2026 Teaching to Teach Apprenticeship Program participation.
Ninety Oklahomans were accepted in the initial class of participants this fall. The program offers financial aid to people who are working in schools while also earning teaching certificates. It is a partnership between Oklahoma CareerTech and the Regional University System of Oklahoma.
Successful applicants can receive reimbursement for tuition and books at one of the six RUSO universities: East Central University, Northeastern State University, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Southwestern Oklahoma State University and the University of Central Oklahoma. The money comes from a grant awarded by the Oklahoma Workforce Commission through the American Rescue Plan Act.
While attending classes toward a teaching certificate, participants also complete on-the-job training under mentors at their schools, tech centers or early learning centers. Recipients must be pursuing alternative, emergency or standard teaching certificates through the Oklahoma Department of Education, and they must have employer approval and commitment to providing mentorship on the job.
Participants will receive reimbursement for tuition and books after successfully completing the apprenticeship and passing the university classes.
Successful applicants must be employed at an Oklahoma school district, technology center or early learning center and pursuing alternative, emergency or traditional teacher certification through the Oklahoma State Department of Education. They must also have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Applications for the spring semester will be accepted Oct. 1-31. For more information about the program and specific requirements, visit https://oklahoma.gov/careertech/business-and-industry/workforce-and-economic-development/apprenticeship-oklahoma/teaching-to-teach.html.
