Kiamichi Tech sees a full-circle build
Kiamichi Technology Centers graduates are part of the crew building a training shop for electrical technology students at the Durant campus.
The construction superintendent overseeing the project completed Kiamichi’s welding technology program in Durant, and two members of the Jefco crew building the shop, Harold Coats and Case Viss, were electrical technology students only a few years ago.
“Kiamichi Tech exists to prepare people for success, and seeing our graduates return to help build opportunities for the next generation is exactly why we do what we do,” said Superintendent Shelley Free. “These are talented professionals choosing to build careers in southeast Oklahoma, strengthening our communities and creating opportunities for the students who will follow in their footsteps.”

Francis Tuttle student places fourth in national contest
A Francis Tuttle Technology Center student finished fourth this summer in the 2026 Adobe Certified Professional U.S. National Championship.
Adelaide Burk, who completed Francis Tuttle’s graphic design and communication program in May, was among 50 students chosen for the competition in Nashville, Tennessee. Students were required to earn an Adobe Certified Professional certification and submit an original creative project.
During the competition, they had eight hours to complete a design challenge for a nonprofit client.

Tech center board members honored
Three Oklahoma CareerTech technology center board members were recently honored by the Oklahoma State School Boards Association.
George Bridges and George Halkiades both were recognized as members of the 2026 All-State Board of Education. Bridges is a Great Plains Technology Center board member, and Halkiades is a Tri County Technology Center board member.
Moore Norman Technology Center board member Glen Cosper was also recognized as a 2026 Distinguished Service Award recipient.
