Dental hygiene instructor at Tri County Tech honored

The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry has awarded Lydia Snyder the Outstanding Full-Time Faculty Award.

Snyder is the site coordinator for the OU College of Dentistry’s distance learning site at Tri County Technology Center in Bartlesville. Students in the program receive the lecture course by live videoconference and laboratory and clinical training in Tri County’s dental hygiene clinic.

“We are incredibly proud of Lydia and this well-deserved recognition,” said Tammie Strobel, superintendent and CEO of Tri County Tech. “Her passion for teaching and her dedication to student success reflect the very best of Tri County Tech. Her influence extends far beyond the classroom and into the future of the profession.”

Indian Capital Tech named a Top Workplace in America

Indian Capital Technology Center has been named one of the Top Workplaces in America, as ranked by USA Today.

“This award is a testament to the people who show up every day with purpose, passion, and pride,” said Superintendent Tony Pivec. “ICTC is a Top Workplace because of the way our staff supports one another, the way our partners invest in our mission, and the way our students inspire us. This recognition belongs to our entire community.”

The award is about teamwork and “celebrates the collective effort of individuals and organizations working together to create a place where employees thrive and students succeed,” ICTC posted on Facebook.

Caddo-Kiowa Tech robotics team finishes in top 10% worldwide

Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center’s FIRST Robotics Team 2373, The Crickets,” finished in the top 10% worldwide.

The team competed at the Oklahoma Regional in Enid in March and the Green Country Regional in April. The offensive and defensive statistics from both competitions put the team in the top spot out of the 34 Oklahoma-based teams and in the top 10% of teams worldwide.

“The students had a fantastic experience this year,” said Reed Allen, the team’s head coach. “They not only grew their engineering knowledge, but also built strong teamwork and problem-solving skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.”

Central Tech students light up Yale basketball court

Students from Central Technology Center have been working to install solar-powered lighting around Yale First Baptist Church’s basketball court to provide a safer place for local youth to play.

Four students -- Peyton Sims of Mannford, Christopher Ford of Sapulpa and Ben Whittset and Cayden Lewis of Yale -- did the work as part of their community action project for a SkillsUSA competition. SkillsUSA is the CareerTech student organization affiliated with trade and industrial education.
