Oklahoma FFA wins top awards at national convention

Oklahoma FFA returned from the 96th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis with 14 national champions, including the National Model of Excellence Chapter and two National Premier Chapter winners.

The National FFA Convention celebrates FFA members from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The convention includes individual award and degree recognition, chapter award recognition, official delegate business and national officer elections.

Stillwater FFA was named the 2023 National Model of Excellence Chapter and also the 2023 National Premier Chapter: Building Communities. Advisers are Robby Branscum, Bailey Kliewer and Tanner Nipper.

Bartlesville FFA was named the 2023 National Premier Chapter: Growing Leaders. Advisers are Marty Jones, Cameron Dale and Ashley Darsow.

TechCENT$ applications open

Applications have opened for TechCENT$ 2024.

TechCENT$ is a training program for current or potential technology center financial services staff. Attendees learn about technology center financial processes and systems and develop a network for sharing best practices with colleagues from across Oklahoma.

Applications will close Nov. 21, and sessions will start in January.

Metro Tech opens new training space at South Bryant Campus

Metro Technology Centers recently hosted a grand opening event to celebrate four newly constructed training facilities at its South Bryant Campus.

The tech center began construction on its new Public Safety Academy, Industrial Technology Center, Law Enforcement Training Center and Automotive Technology Center in 2021. Funding came from a bond passed by voters in 2019.

The facilities will help Metro Tech provide more students industry-specific training to meet workforce demands in Oklahoma City, Superintendent Aaron Collins said.

CareerTech represented in NextGen Under 30 awards.

Four Oklahoma technology center employees are among more than 400 people selected as 2023 NextGen Under 30 Award winners.

Receiving awards recently were Braden Schovanec, Tri County Technology Center; and Carson Osborne, Konner King and Ashley Strehl, all of Metro Technology Centers.

NextGen Under 30 Oklahoma is intended to honor individuals who demonstrate talent, drive and service to their communities, according to its website.

 

Francis Tuttle students cook with ‘MasterChef’ stars

Culinary students at Francis Tuttle Technology Center cooked last week with contestants from “MasterChef” for a benefit dinner for Loveworks Leadership.

Gabriel Lewis, a Francis Tuttle culinary program graduate and “MasterChef” season 8 and 12 contestant, helped organize the collaboration, which allowed Francis Tuttle students the chance to work with top culinary talent.
