Central Tech superintendent to retire

Central Technology Center Superintendent Ron Dyer will retire June 30 after 34 years of service.

Dyer became superintendent in 2015 after serving as Central Tech assistant superintendent for 15 years. Before that, he was a recruiter for the technology center’s truck driver training program and a small business instructor.

GED classes planned in Wagoner County

Adult students in Wagoner County will be able to attend high school equivalency courses locally for the first time.

Plans call for classes to begin after Labor Day in the county. Previously, the closest classes offered were in Broken Arrow.

Funds from Oklahoma CareerTech will cover students’ tuition, curriculum, materials, supplies and a teacher salary and benefits. Oklahoma CareerTech took responsibility for adult education in 2014. There are 31 adult basic education providers that offer courses in high school equivalency preparation, English as a second language, citizenship and English literacy and civics education.

Video series visits Canadian Valley Tech

Episode seven of Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell’s “A Look at Oklahoma CareerTech” focuses on computer repair and programming at Canadian Valley Technology Center.

The episode features Christina Perez, a computer repair and programming student, who talks about how her instructors are preparing her for a successful career.

Pontotoc Tech honors retiring superintendent

Pontotoc Technology Center recently hosted a luncheon to honor Superintendent David Lassiter, who is retiring after almost 10 years at PTC.

Lassiter joined PTC in September 2012 as deputy superintendent and became superintendent in January 2013. He previously was high school principal and superintendent at Allen Public Schools.

Travis Graham will take over as PTC superintendent July 1.
