Oklahoma CareerTech and the Oklahoma Hospital Association are again working together to inspire students to investigate health care careers.
The two, along with HOSA-Future Health Professionals, are presenting Explore Healthcare: Oklahoma Virtual Career Expo on Oct. 23. The free event is designed for intermediate, middle school, high school, CareerTech and postsecondary students interested in exploring health care careers.
Approximately 40 health care professionals from across the state will share their career and educational paths and discuss opportunities available in Oklahoma in nursing, midwifery, family practice medicine, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, mental health, medical laboratory technology, ultrasound and sonography, health care administration, sterile processing, surgical technology and more. Each will be featured in a five to 10 minute video followed by a live question and answer session.
Students will also learn about CareerTech opportunities; HOSA-Future Health Professionals, the CareerTech student organization affiliated with health science education; Youth Medical Mentorship; and scholarships.
“As one of the providers of health science exploration and education across Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, and specifically the health science education division, knows the impact of early exposure to a variety of health careers available for young people and adults,” said Lara Morris, CareerTech health science education program manager. “We want to share the message that health care is defined by more than 200 professions, and opportunities exist from the Panhandle to each corner of the state, not just in metropolitan areas.
“This partnership with the Oklahoma Hospital Association is perfect for CareerTech as we have a huge reach across the state and access to both comprehensive high schools and technology centers.”
CareerTech and OHA collaborated in 2025 on the first virtual health care career expo, which drew more than 1,500 students from across the state. As of Oct. 5, more than 2,100 students have registered to attend this year’s virtual expo.
This year’s career expo will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 23. It is free, but registration is required. Students can register individually for the career expo with their personal email addresses or teachers may register a group of students.
