Technology Center Administrator Credential

The Technology Center Administrator Credential is required for administrators who are responsible for supervision and administration of ODCTE approved programs.

Application Process

To apply for a Technology Center Administrator Credential, email the following information to certify@careertech.ok.gov.

  • Application for Technology Center Administrator Credential
  • Copy of current teaching/administrator certificate
  • Current resume, including all work experience
  • If applying for a provisional with three years of work experience from a technology center or ODCTE, please include a letter of endorsement from either an Oklahoma technology center superintendent or the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education's state director, as applicable.

Standard Credential

To receive a standard credential, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Valid administrator’s certificate (secondary principal or superintendent) issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Education
  • Five years of experience as a CareerTech teacher, supervisor, or administrator of approved ODCTE program

Provisional Credential

To receive a provisional credential, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Valid administrator’s certificate (secondary principal or superintendent) issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Education
  • Three years of experience in one of the following:
    • Career and Technology Education teacher of an approved ODCTE program
    • Administrator supervising and evaluating teachers of an approved ODCTE program
    • Employment at an Oklahoma technology center, a letter of endorsement from current technology center superintendent required
    • Employment at Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, a letter of endorsement from current ODCTE state director required

A provisional credential will be awarded and is valid for five years. A Technology Center Administrator Provisional Credential Plan form will be sent covering the requirements that must be met to move to a standard credential.  

The requirements to move to a standard credential will be determined based on the applicant's previous coursework. A maximum of nine college credit hours and/or 135 ODCTE approved professional development clock hours from the following areas may be required.

  • History and Philosophy of Career and Technology Education
  • Technology Center Finance
  • Career and Technology Education Curriculum
  • Career and Technology Education Program Planning and Development

Approved ODCTE professional development hours from the four areas listed will be accepted if the hours were completed after September 11, 2016, and are allowable per the applicant's approved credential plan.

Visit ODCTE Leadership and Professional Development for information on TechCAP, TechCent$, and other sessions that may count toward the 135 hour requirement.  

ODCTE Accreditation training has opportunities for approved professional development hours.
