Meridian Tech grad connects passion with career

Jenifer Presley, a Meridian Technology Center practical nursing graduate, talked to Oklahoma’s Nursing Times about her education and career and what drew her to nursing.

Presley, a licensed practical nurse and assistant director of nurses at Golden Oaks Village in Stillwater, said the clinical work she did in school was a valuable resource and helped give her a good skill base for her career. She added that it’s important to continue learning on the job.

Oklahoma Farm Report spotlights FFA State Convention move to Tulsa

Oklahoma FFA Executive Secretary Trevor Lucas talked to Ron Hays of the Oklahoma Farm Report about the CareerTech student organization’s 2022 convention moving to Tulsa.

This year is the first time the Oklahoma State FFA Convention will be held in Tulsa. Lucas explained the logistical reasons behind the move from Oklahoma City to Tulsa.

FFA is one of seven co-curricular CareerTech student organizations. It is affiliated with agricultural education.

 

Francis Tuttle Tech celebrates new facility

Francis Tuttle Technology Center recently held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand opening of its Danforth Campus.

The tech center opened its new campus in August 2021. It houses programs in entrepreneurship, engineering, biosciences and medicine, computer science, pre-nursing, cosmetology, automotive service technology and interactive media.

Tools for Schools applications open

Applications have opened for the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence.

Three Oklahoma skilled trades instructors were among 61 finalists competing for a share of the more than $1 million in cash prizes in 2021. The prize is designed to spotlight outstanding programs and celebrate the teachers in those programs.
