OMMA Launches New Webpage Highlighting Quality Assurance Laboratory

Monday, June 29, 2026

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) has launched a new webpage dedicated to its Quality Assurance Laboratory (QA Lab), a key initiative designed to strengthen regulatory oversight, increase transparency and support patient safety across the state’s medical marijuana market.

Authorized by Senate Bill 813 in 2023, the QA Lab integrates advanced testing capabilities directly into Oklahoma’s medical marijuana regulatory framework, which will reduce reliance on third-party data and increase efficiency in detecting improper practices, reporting errors and product safety risks.

The new webpage provides information about the QA Lab’s mission, a timeline of the project’s progress and details about equipment and operations.

“The Quality Assurance Laboratory represents an ongoing commitment to protecting medical marijuana patients,” said OMMA Executive Director Adria Berry. “The establishment of the lab and its continued progress toward full national accreditation will contribute to OMMA’s ability to oversee licensed laboratories and conduct enforcement-related activities.”

While OMMA’s QA Lab will strengthen patient safety by providing additional testing capabilities and oversight, product safety begins with the licensed businesses that grow, process, manufacture and distribute those products. Putting good manufacturing processes in place is the first step toward producing clean, safe medical marijuana products.

“Patient safety is a shared responsibility – commercial licensees should strive to create top tier products, and, if those products fail to meet the mark, OMMA serves as a safety net to step in and remove unsafe products from the marketplace,” said Berry. “Through combined efforts, the QA Lab will continue to strengthen product safety and increase confidence in Oklahoma’s medical marijuana program.”

OMMA recently hosted the Cannabis Regulators Association (CANNRA) in Oklahoma City during the organization’s annual External Stakeholders Meeting. During the event, regulators from across the globe toured OMMA’s QA Lab.

Andrew Turnage, executive director of the Access to Medical Cannabis Commission in Georgia, said his state could use a lab like the one built by OMMA to accommodate the rapidly growing medical marijuana market in Georgia.

“We don’t have resources like this,” Turnage said. “It’s great to see Oklahoma make the investment. I hope we see more development like this across the country.”

More feedback from CANNRA attendees is featured in a video about the QA Lab and its role in Oklahoma’s medical marijuana regulatory framework. OMMA will update the webpage as more details and pending accreditations are finalized.
