Oklahoma City – The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) has named Porsha Riley as its new Public Information Officer (PIO). Riley will primarily handle media inquiries while helping to keep Oklahomans updated with the latest OMMA-related news.
"I’m thrilled to step into this role. It’s an honor to join such a great team of people who have worked tirelessly to help those in our state navigate the complexities of medical marijuana,” said Riley. “I’m excited to be a part of that.”
Riley’s background is in television news. She served as a reporter at Oklahoma City’s KOCO 5 before joining the OMMA. During her time as a local reporter, she led coverage on some of the biggest stories in the state. Prior to KOCO, she worked as a multi-media journalist in Wichita, Kansas, and as a web reporter in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
“I feel my news experience will benefit me greatly in this position,” Riley explained. “It’ll be a new and exciting experience to be on the public relations side of the communications industry.”
OMMA Executive Director Adria Berry added, “We’re excited to have Porsha join the Communications Department. We believe she’s a great fit and an excellent addition to the OMMA.”
Born and raised in Oklahoma, Riley graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) with a bachelor’s degree in Communications.
“It’s amazing to continue my journey in a state I love and call home.”
