Family Engagement For Families

All families have dreams for their children and want the best for them. Research shows that students are most successful when families and schools work together as equal partners.  From early education through graduation, all families have the ability to support their student’s learning. 

Our team at the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) values family engagement and is available with resources and information to support partnerships between families and schools.  Answers to many of the most common questions families have about education can be found on our website.

• Oklahoma Family Guides: The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) Family Guides illustrate what is expected of students at each grade level from Pre-K through 6th grade. Guides are available in the following subjects: English language arts, science, mathematics, social studies, health, music, physical education (PE) and visual art. These handy, printable flyers include helpful information aligned to the Oklahoma Academic Standards and guidance on how to support student learning at home.
• Learning Heroes: You’ve got what it takes — you know your child best. But even superheroes need a team. We’re here to help you along the way — with simple actions to help your child reach his or her goals.
• Parent Toolkit: Parent Toolkit is a one-stop resource developed with parents in mind. Produced by NBC News Education Nation and supported by Pearson, this website includes information about many of the interconnected aspects of your child’s development. Healthy, successful children can excel in many areas – in the classroom, on the court, and in their relationships with peers and adults. Our advice also covers important topics for navigating life after high school.
