Letter From OMMA Executive Director Adria Berry Regarding The OMMA MedPortal
Dear OMMA Licensees and Stakeholders,
After two years of working with OMES on the procurement of new software and ten months building the new software, I am thrilled to announce that we are nearly ready to go live with a new system I am confident will meet—and even exceed—your expectations. Following extensive testing over the weekend, we’ve decided to briefly postpone launch to ensure data quality. We will announce a new launch date this week once we are certain that all data has accurately and fully migrated over from Thentia.
Quarterly updates at the Executive Advisory Council meeting, conversations with licensees and stakeholders over the past ten months and public presentations to the legislature all detailed the intent of this new software. OMMA heard the complaints about the current system and acted to build a solution specific for Oklahoma’s medical marijuana market. We are almost ready to go live with the OMMA MedPortal and couldn’t be more optimistic about its impacts on the patients and industry we serve as well as all stakeholders.
The OMMA MedPortal will help us uphold our mission: promoting public health and safety by regulating and enforcing responsible licensing practices while also hyper-focusing on the OMMA value of quality service.
At the outset, we set ambitious goals for this initiative. I am pleased to share that we are achieving them:
- Replacing our legacy licensing system with a comprehensive, end-to-end solution that is reliable, flexible, scalable and maintainable—positioning us to meet the agency’s and the state’s needs now and in the future.
- Centralizing all licensing activities through a single online portal, improving the user experience with intuitive self-service features and enabling greater regulatory oversight and management.
- Increasing efficiency in agency operations and regulatory processes by leveraging automation, seamless integrations and robust validations.
With the new system, we will be better equipped with reliable data to measure our performance, identify areas of risk and strategically allocate our resources for maximum impact on public health and safety while serving Oklahomans efficiently and effectively.
Improvements for Applicants/Licensees:
- Secure, single-account access for all interactions—applying, renewing or updating licenses plus viewing inspection reports.
- Self-service transactions, with some requests auto-approved (e.g., service requests).
- Name change for transporter agent will be made across all businesses they work for and businesses will be notified.
- Employee credential renewal date will be set with a date one year from when they apply rather than all of them set at Jan. 31.
- Self-service viewing of completed inspection reports.
- Guided workflows and built-in validations to reduce errors.
- Ease of submission of missing or corrected documents.
- Consistent and intuitive workflow for applicants and licensees.
These are merely a few highlights of the new OMMA MedPortal. You will see many more as you explore the new system.
Keep up with updates on our designated OMMA MedPortal webpage. Upon launch, if something isn’t working properly, please report it immediately at OMMA.ok.gov/contact so we can get it fixed.
With Gratitude,
Adria G. Berry
