Family Planning

Purpose

Family planning is a key factor in preventing unintended pregnancy, including adolescent pregnancy. By preventing unintended pregnancy, family planning also reduces the incidence of abortion, as well as improving birth outcomes. Reproductive Health Services reduce both the incidence and impact of sexually transmitted disease infection through screening and treatment.

OSDH Reproductive Health:  Perinatal and Reproductive Health Division

The primary areas within the Perinatal and Reproductive Health Division include: the Family Planning Program (pregnancy planning, birth control), the Maternity Program (prenatal care, nutrition counseling, referrals), Preventive Health Education for men and women, Fetal and Infant Mortality Review and Maternal Mortality Review.
