Oklahoma Central Cancer Registry (OCCR)

The Oklahoma Central Cancer Registry has received the gold certification from the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries(NAACCR). This certification is based on quality, completeness and timeliness of data collected for 1997-2019.

NAACCR is pleased to announce a new Fitness for Use for Survival & Prevalence recognition for registries that meet the inclusion requirements for the CiNA Survival and CiNA Prevalence Volumes of the CiNA Monograph and the related CiNA Survival research dataset. This Recognition is based on meeting the following criteria:

  • Meet the CiNA incidence criteria for all relevant years, and
  • Either meet the SEER standards for follow-up or ascertain deaths through the study cutoff date.

The Oklahoma Central Cancer Registry is the central database of information on all cancers diagnosed or treated in Oklahoma since January 1, 1997. Federal Public Law 102-515, Oklahoma Statute 63 OS 1-551, and Chapter 567 OSBDH Rules and Regulations require all healthcare and health service providers to report specific information on every cancer case.

The statewide registry enables researchers, policymakers, and consumers to obtain incidence data. In addition, the information allows both private and public health agencies to study cancer trends and develop cancer prevention and/or control programs based on data.

All cooperative agreement activities and products (e.g., publication of standards volumes, procedures guidelines, and consensus workshop summaries) must comply with funding attribution verbiage as listed within the notice of grant award (e.g., “We acknowledge the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, for its support of the OK staff, and the printing and distribution of the monograph under cooperative agreement DP22-2202 NU58DP007125 awarded to OK. It's contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of CDC").

The OCCN Cancer Resource Directory (formerly Threads of Support) is a comprehensive list of resources and institutions in Oklahoma related to cancer prevention, support and treatment.
